A venous duplex ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures in the body. The ultrasound uses two modes of ultrasound imaging: one to see the structures of your veins, the other to see the speed and direction of blood flow in those veins. This procedure is often done to identify deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
