An unilateral breast ultrasound is an imaging procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the structures in the breast. It is often used to diagnose abnormalities already identified through physical exam or other imaging. However, it can also be performed as a supplement to a screening mammogram to better scan for abnormalities in dense breasts.
