A partial thyroid lobectomy is a surgical procedure that involves removing part of one lobe of the thyroid gland located in the neck. This procedure may also involve removal of the middle portion (isthmus) that connects the two lobes of the thyroid. The procedure is typically performed for a benign thyroid nodule, thyroid cyst, unilateral goiter that is causing symptoms, thyroid nodule with an indeterminate biopsy or a small low-risk thyroid cancer.
