A posterior extradural laminotomy involves the removal of structures near the spine (lamina, discs, tissue) that are exerting pressure on the nerves. The surgeon will remove a portion of the lamina, the covering of the vertebrae, disc fragments, thickened tissue, or bone spurs if they are exerting pressure on the nerves. Unlike a laminectomy, where the entire lamina is removed, only a portion of the lamina is removed during a laminotomy.
Physician order required.
Please do not order until "Neurosurgeon Office Visit" with chosen doctor has been completed.
