A physical therapy clinic initial evaluation is a first-time visit with a physical therapist to evaluate a new issue. Physical therapists promote, maintain, and restore health through physical examination, diagnosis, management, patient education, physical intervention, and rehabilitation. During the evaluation, the physical therapist asks questions about one's condition, previous level of function, and the condition's impact on one's life. The physical therapist also performs a physical assessment to measure the impairment causing the problem and evaluates level of strength, posture, flexibility, balance and coordination. Following the evaluation, the physical therapist sets up a treatment plan that includes goals and desired outcomes.
