A PET/CT prostate specific membrane antigen (PMSA) is a diagnostic imaging procedure that combines two methods (positron emission tomography and computed tomography) to detect prostate cancer anywhere in the body. A radioactive substance called a radiotracer is injected before the test, which attaches to cancer cells, making them visible on the image. The radiotracer attaches to PSMA, a protein found on the surface of prostate cancer cells.
