In-home physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is one of the allied health professions. It is provided by physical therapists who promote, maintain, or restore health through physical examination, diagnosis, management, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention, and health promotion. Physical therapy can be provided as a primary care treatment, or in conjunction with, other medical services.
This service is conducted in your home to speed recovery from illness, injury or surgery. Home-based therapy allows clients to develop independence with daily activities in a convenient and comfortable setting, allowing families to be closely involved in the rehabilitation process. It also plays an important role in helping an individual regain productivity as well as independence - and therapists are often a critical part of the health care team.
