A heart PET scan, also known as positron emission tomography, is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to study blood flow to the heart. The doctor will inject a small amount of radioactive tracers into a vein, which are absorbed by the structures of the heart. This allows detailed images to be taken of the cardiovascular system.
This procedure is only available to cardiology patients. For general PET/CT Scanns, see PET / CT Scan.
