An exercise stress test is a diagnostic procedure used to check for certain heart conditions. You will be asked to exercise on a stationary bike or treadmill to increase your heart rate, which will be monitored by an electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG). This allows your doctor to observe how effective your heart is at pumping blood. If your results show that your heart is struggling more than usual, your doctor may recommend further testing.
