The procedure is helpful for individual's with de quervain's tenosynovitis, a condition where the tendons at the base of the thumb become swollen, putting pressure on nearby nerves and causing pain. This procedure can be performed in-office for less complicated cases, but for more complicated cases, the doctor may request that you order an outpatient procedure performed in a surgery center or operating room.
