A CT scan of abdomen and pelvis with and without contrast is an imaging procedure that uses electromagnetic waves from a large machine to provide multiple images of the abdominal and pelvic areas. This procedure involves two sets of images being taken: one normally (before dye injection) and another after receiving a dye injection, so that the doctor can compare the views and look for abnormalities. The image after injection allows the abdominal and pelvic organs, bones, and blood vessels to be more easily seen.
