A CT angiography (CTA) involves the injection of dye (contrast) into the blood vessels. The image after the injection of dye allows the blood vessels to be more easily viewed. CT scanning is done to help diagnose as well as evaluate blood vessel disease or related conditions such as aneurysms or blockages.
