A cervical disk replacement (2 level) is a surgical procedure that involves removing a diseased cervical disk and replacing it with an artificial disk. In a 2 level cervical artificial disc replacement, two adjacent problematic discs are removed and replaced with two artificial disc devices. When the space between the vertebrae becomes too narrow, part of the vertebrae or the cervical disk can press on the spinal cord or spinal nerves, causing pain, numbness, or weakness. Disk replacement surgery may allow more movement and create less stress on remaining vertebrae than traditional cervical disk surgery.
