The Achillles tendon is the strongest tendon in your body, located on the back of your leg. It joins the calf muscle to the heel, allowing you to push off the ground with your foot. During very strenuous physical activity, or after becoming weakened over time, this tendon can rupture (tear completely). Surgery is a common treatment for an Achilles tendon rupture.
An Achilles Tendon Repair is a surgery in which a doctor reconnects the two torn ends of the Achilles tendon. If your Achilles tendon was already damaged before your injury, your doctor may need to reconstruct it using a graft.
